Tasty Tuesday: Valentine’s Day Strawberry Love Bites for Dogs

Valentine’s Day is often associated with sweet treats and shared moments—and our dogs deserve to be included in that love in a way that’s safe, simple, and nourishing.

This Tasty Tuesday, we’re sharing a Valentine’s Day–inspired strawberry treat that’s easy to make at home, dog-safe, and perfect for enrichment, bonding, or a special holiday moment.

🍓 Why Strawberries?

Strawberries are a wonderful occasional treat for dogs when used in moderation. They’re naturally sweet, colorful, and packed with nutrients that support overall wellness.

Strawberries provide:

  • Antioxidants to help combat inflammation

  • Vitamin C to support immune health

  • Fiber to aid digestion

  • Natural enzymes that may help freshen breath

As with all fruits, strawberries contain natural sugars, so small portions are best.

💕 Valentine’s Strawberry Love Bites (Dog-Safe Recipe)

Ingredients:

  • 3–4 fresh strawberries

  • 1/2 cup plain, unsweetened yogurt (no xylitol)

  • Optional: a small splash of water or bone broth (unsalted)

Instructions:

  1. Wash strawberries thoroughly and remove stems.

  2. Mash or blend strawberries until smooth.

  3. Mix with plain yogurt until well combined.

  4. Spoon small amounts into silicone molds, ice cube trays, or spread lightly onto a lick mat.

  5. Freeze for 2–3 hours until firm.

Serve one small portion at a time as a special Valentine’s Day treat.

🐾 How to Use These Treats

These strawberry love bites are perfect for:

  • Calm enrichment time

  • Lick mats for emotional regulation

  • A post-walk or post-grooming reward

  • Celebrating Valentine’s Day without added sugars or fillers

Frozen treats encourage slow licking, which can help promote relaxation and focus—especially helpful for dogs who are easily overstimulated.

⚖️ Portion & Safety Notes

  • Treats should make up no more than 10% of your dog’s daily intake

  • Introduce new foods slowly, especially for sensitive stomachs

  • Avoid sweetened yogurt, artificial flavors, or syrups

  • Skip if your dog has known dairy sensitivities
