Our Background

Personal Profile

Paisley’s Posh Paws was created from a lifetime of hands-on experience, education, and a deep love for dogs—especially those who are fearful, anxious, sensitive, or need a little extra understanding.

I have over 25 years of experience working directly with animals, and my background spans many areas of the pet care world. I started my career working in animal shelters, where I learned early on how much a dog’s past, emotions, and environment affect their behavior and ability to feel safe. Working with dogs of all temperaments taught me patience, compassion, and the importance of handling every dog as an individual.

From there, I became a Certified Surgical Veterinary Technician, where I gained extensive clinical experience in anesthesia monitoring, surgical assistance, medical handling, and post-operative care. That role gave me a strong foundation in canine anatomy, physiology, and safety—and reinforced just how important calm, controlled, low-stress handling is for a dog’s overall well-being.

My formal education includes Animal Sciences at Becker College, along with continued studies in Veterinary Science. I also completed multiple programs through Animal Behavior College, including Veterinary Assisting, Professional Grooming, and Dog Training. These programs allowed me to combine medical knowledge, behavior, and grooming into one well-rounded, thoughtful approach to care.

Over the years, I’ve worked in boarding facilities, dog daycares, grooming salons, and training environments, which has given me a full-picture understanding of what dogs experience in different settings—and what can cause stress, overstimulation, or anxiety if not handled properly.

Continuing education has always been extremely important to me. I’ve attended hundreds of seminars, workshops, and training events focused on fearful, nervous, reactive, and anxious dogs, with a strong emphasis on relationship-based, fear-aware, and confidence-building techniques.

My passion for holistic care led me to study through the Animal Aromatherapy Clinic, where I became a Certified Animal Aromatherapy Practitioner. This allows me to safely and intentionally incorporate aromatherapy into grooming, boarding, and enrichment routines to help support relaxation, emotional balance, and overall comfort—always with the dog’s individual needs in mind.

Paisley’s Posh Paws brings all of this together—medical knowledge, behavioral understanding, holistic support, and a calm, luxury-level experience. Every dog is treated as an individual, never rushed, never forced, and always respected.

This isn’t just a grooming or boarding facility—it’s a place where dogs are cared for thoughtfully, intentionally, and with their emotional and physical health at the forefront of everything we do.

Mason and Lauren

Our Team.

At Paisley’s Posh Paws, our team is more than a group of caregivers — we are passionate animal professionals united by a shared philosophy: every dog deserves to feel safe, understood, and genuinely cared for.

Led by Lauren E. Shelley, founder and owner, our team brings decades of combined hands‑on experience in dog training, grooming, veterinary care, and behavioral support. We specialize in working with dogs of all temperaments, including those who are fearful, anxious, reactive, or simply need a quieter, more personalized environment.

Our culture is rooted in patience, education, and respect for the individual dog. We believe in reading body language, honoring emotional needs, and creating positive, confidence‑building experiences — whether a dog is here for a spa day, serenity care, or an extended stay in our luxury retreat.

Every team member is carefully selected and trained to uphold our high standards of safety, cleanliness, and compassionate handling. We work one‑on‑one whenever possible, integrate calming aromatherapy and enrichment, and move at the dog’s pace — never rushing, never forcing.

What truly sets our team apart is heart. We treat every dog as if they were our own, and every client like family. When your dog is with us, they’re not just being cared for — they’re being understood.
