Frequently Asked Questions
Do you accept dogs that are not spayed or neutered?
Yes! We do accept intact (non-spayed/non-neutered) dogs on a case-by-case basis. Because every dog is different, we evaluate temperament, age, behavior, and the services being requested. For boarding and Serenity Care, additional management may be required to ensure everyone's safety and comfort.
Can I stay during my dog's grooming appointment?
Absolutely! We welcome owners who would like to stay during their pet's appointment. While insurance regulations prevent clients from entering the grooming area, you're more than welcome to relax upstairs with a complimentary coffee, catch up on work, or even take a short walk to nearby shops while your pet enjoys their spa experience.
How many dogs do you board?
We intentionally keep boarding extremely limited to provide every guest with the highest level of individualized care.
We accommodate just three families of dogs at one time, with each family receiving their own private suite. Even dogs from the same household can have separate accommodations if needed for comfort or safety.
This allows us to provide a calm, peaceful, low-stress environment rather than a crowded kennel atmosphere.
What happens if my dog barks excessively?
Most of our guests settle in quickly and enjoy their stay. However, if a dog becomes excessively vocal during nighttime hours, we may temporarily move them to our downstairs suite for the evening.
This helps us remain respectful of our residential neighbors while still ensuring your pet remains comfortable and cared for. In the morning, your dog will be returned to their regular suite for the remainder of their stay.
Will my dog interact with other dogs?
That depends on the service you've chosen.
For Serenity Care, dogs receive individualized, human-only care without interacting with unfamiliar dogs.
For boarding, every family has their own private suite, and interactions with other guests are carefully managed based on each dog's temperament and owner preferences.
Our goal is always a safe, calm, and personalized experience.
What should I bring for boarding?
To help make your dog's stay as comfortable and familiar as possible, we recommend bringing:
-
Your dog's regular food (pre-portioned if possible)
-
Any medications in their original containers with written instructions
-
A favorite toy or blanket (optional)
-
A long-lasting edible chew, such as a collagen stick, knuckle bone, bully stick, yak cheese chew, or another safe chew your dog is already familiar with.
Chewing is one of the most natural ways for dogs to relax. Providing a special chew gives your dog something rewarding to focus on while settling into their new environment. It can help reduce stress and anxiety, encourage calm behavior, and create a positive association with their stay. We often incorporate these quiet moments into your dog's individualized relaxation routine.
For your dog's safety, we ask that you avoid bringing rawhide products, cooked bones, or toys that could easily splinter or become a choking hazard. If you're unsure whether a chew is appropriate, we're always happy to help.
We provide comfortable bedding, food and water bowls, personalized enrichment, plenty of affection, and everything else your dog needs for a relaxing, resort-style stay.
Do you administer medications?
Yes! With Lauren's background as a Certified Surgical Veterinary Technician, we are comfortable administering most oral medications, topical medications, eye and ear medications, insulin injections, and many routine treatments.
Please provide all medications in their original containers along with clear written instructions. If your pet has a unique medical routine, we'll review everything with you prior to check-in.
Is my dog ever left alone?
Our guests receive scheduled potty breaks, enrichment, walks, cuddle time, relaxation periods, and individualized care throughout the day.
While there may be short periods between activities, we intentionally keep our boarding numbers extremely small so every guest receives plenty of personal attention in a calm, home-like environment.
Do you groom one dog at a time?
Most appointments are completed in approximately 60–90 minutes, meaning your dog spends less time waiting and more time being pampered.
My dog is nervous or has been turned away by other groomers. Can you help?
Absolutely.
Helping fearful, anxious, elderly, medically fragile, and behaviorally challenging dogs is one of our specialties. We take extra time to build trust, move at your dog's pace, and create a calm, positive experience whenever possible. Our goal is not just a beautiful haircut—it's helping your dog learn that grooming can be a positive experience.
Do you require vaccinations?
For the health and safety of all guests, we require proof of current vaccinations before boarding, daycare, training, and grooming services where appropriate.
Required vaccinations include:
-
Rabies
-
Distemper/Parvo (DHPP)
-
Bordetella
We also highly recommend that dogs be on a veterinarian-approved flea and tick preventative. If you have questions regarding your dog's vaccination status or medical exemptions, we're happy to discuss your individual situation.
Can my dog receive a bath or haircut during boarding?
Absolutely!
Every boarding guest receives a complimentary bath before going home (when appropriate for the length of their stay).
If your dog requires a full haircut, de-shedding treatment, nail grinding, or additional spa services, these can be scheduled during their stay for an additional grooming fee.
What if my dog is matted?
Your dog's comfort always comes first.
If matting is severe, shaving may be the safest and most humane option to prevent pain, bruising, skin irritation, or injury. We will always discuss your dog's coat condition and available options before proceeding whenever possible.
