Sunday Reset: Week 1 Finding Stillness in the Storm

Today’s Sunday reset looks a little different.

A large snowstorm has settled in, the kind that slows everything down whether we want it to or not. After the shoveling is done and the world feels hushed, there’s a moment where time seems to soften.

A mug of hot chocolate warms your hands. The fire crackles gently in the background.Your dog curls up nearby, thawing out right alongside you.

There’s no rush. No noise. Just warmth and quiet.

The Gift of Snowy Silence

Stepping outside during a snowfall is one of the most underrated resets there is. The world feels muted—almost protected. All you can hear is the soft hush of snowflakes falling, the crisp crunch of ice crystals beneath your boots, each tiny sound layered with calm.

It’s a different kind of silence than we get in everyday life. Not empty—peaceful. Not loud—intentional.

Your dog pauses too. Nostrils flaring, ears soft, taking it all in. There’s no pulling forward, no urgency. Just shared presence.

Warming Back Up—Together

When you come back inside, there’s something deeply comforting about warming up together. Towels by the door, paws drying, fur slowly returning to warmth. Dogs feel the cold, the shift, the stillness—just as we do.

This is regulation. This is grounding. This is care that goes beyond routines.

Winter Calm & Summer Memories

In moments like this, it’s easy to be reminded that stillness shows up in different forms.

In the summer, it’s the beaches of Maine—the gentle, repetitive rhythm of tiny waves rolling in. No agenda. No pressure. Just sitting, listening, and letting your nervous system settle into that steady, predictable sound. You’re not doing anything. You’re just being.

Winter offers that same gift—just wrapped in snow instead of salt air.

A Reset Doesn’t Have to Be Big

A Sunday reset doesn’t need plans, productivity, or perfection. Sometimes it’s simply:

  • Letting the storm force you to slow down

  • Sitting quietly with your dog

  • Listening to sounds that ask nothing of you

  • Allowing your body (and theirs) to rest

Whether it’s snow falling or waves lapping at the shore, these moments of sensory calm remind us that it’s okay to pause.

Today, let the storm do the work.Warm up. Breathe. Listen.Reset—together.
